The Pacific Engagement Visa is a permanent residence visa. This means if you are granted a Pacific Engagement Visa you can choose where you live and work anywhere in Australia. There are no restrictions on work location, type of work or employer.

If you’ve been selected in the Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV) ballot, you need to have a formal, ongoing job offer before your visa is granted.

  • An offer of employment can be permanent full-time, permanent part-time or a fixed-term contract (for example, a contract for 12 months).
  • Your fixed-term contract must have the same work entitlements as a permanent full-time or a permanent part-time employee.
  • Casual contracts are not considered ongoing employment.

As the Australian Government’s official Employment Support Service, we provide free help to connect you with employers and job opportunities in Australia. We also provide help with applying for jobs and preparing to work in Australia.

Our Employment Support Service can help you find roles and connect to employers in urban, rural and remote locations across Australia.

Accessing the PEV Employment Support Service

If you are selected in the ballot and invited to apply for a PEV, you can access the PEV Employment Support Service to help find a job in Australia.

There are several ways to access the Service. You can contact your local PEV office and attend information sessions in person and online. You can also connect with the Service directly by emailing Employment@pevsupport.com.au

The Service is available to people invited to apply for a PEV and their partner/spouse. You will need to provide proof of your invitation to apply for a PEV, including your Notification of Selection letter and formal identification.

Employment information sessions

You can attend online information sessions to help you understand:

  • the types of job opportunities in different regions in Australia
  • what it’s like to work in Australia, including your rights and responsibilities as a worker
  • what you will need to apply for a new job
  • understanding minimum job requirements for employment in Australia
  • how the PEV Employment Support Service can help you with your job search.

You will also get the opportunity to ask job search and other employment questions during these online sessions.
